Michael Yamashita’s latest book, Shangri-La [along the tea road to Lhasa], has just been released (Fall 2012) from White Star Publishers. The 11 X 12, 272-page book contains a close up look at a mystical and remote land, with photographs of a way of life that is fast disappearing. Seen with an insider’s eye, these images may be among the last to show the unique aspects of Tibetan life that are undergoing rapid transformation by the Chinese.
